Matthew 4 v19 Fishers of Men
Jesus Calls the first disciples: 18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him. 21 And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
About the Abstract Art
This abstract art is called “dolphins dance, fishers of men”. I used lace to create the waves by dipping it in paint and using it as a tool to apply the paint to the canvas to make patterns. They then just seem to curl into waves and a sea emerged majestically from the canvas. The soft colours gave me a sense of playful peace. Half of the boat is a dolphin. This symbolises freedom. It just happened, but it began with a personal struggle and I translated it into paint to make it positive. I was then given this message from Matthew 4 v 19 and my new life purpose arose. To paint the bible stories and make them come alive. To be clear I paint and then this happens, it is not a logical process where I think I will paint something. My heart opens I let go and this just happens. I often have to go and look up the verse that popped in my head as I have no idea what it is. It is a magical flow that I can only say is a modern day miracle.
