Painting London Skylines on Commission

I enjoy painting skylines of any city on commission. I have been doing so professionally for 11 years, since I became a full time artist in 2005. I listen to see what the favourite paintings are and generally I can see a style commonality. It might be the way I have painted abstract reflections or sky or lots of white space or lots of texture. I then discuss colours and feel of a work of art as well as the landmarks or abstract nature. I have all I need to create so you can buy art on commission. I do not do preliminary sketches I just paint. This way my art stays free.

Cityscape Art

The cityscape art is created in the same way, I paint the background and in this case it was plain white. I then add the buildings and work with you step by step on the commission to make sure you are happy with style, colours and progress.

#Painting Skylines is very rewarding and I keep wanting to explore and take the art in new directions as soon as I have finished say a #painting of London, I want to try something else, like the reflections of #Tower Bridge in a new colour or putting in more flowers and then I #paint and it just happens and nothing I thought to do appears, just something else equally beautiful and then I think to do that again and then something else totally new happens. I suppose that is really letting go of the outcome!

I also enjoy the discipline of working on commission you have to keep the focus, but that just flows too.

This latest “Rainbow collection” is about celebrating joy in life. #SaraSherwoodArt at #SkylarkArtGalleries unit 1.09 #Oxo Tower Open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 6pm. We are a collective of artists and there is an artist on duty every day. There is an eclectic mix of art; something for everyone at a range of prices or just come along and enjoy.

I recently bought one of Sara's pieces, which looks even better in real life than it does on her website: despite being... an embellished canvas print, it looks just like an original, with the embellishing adding noticeable texture. Sara was incredibly helpful throughout, offering me various options to make sure I got precisely what I wanted, and that I was delighted with the finished product. The only difficulty I had was choosing which piece to go for, as I liked so many of them.
